As our business continues to grow, and with our move to the US forecast for January 2014, we’re looking for a marketing consultant / strategist / motherfucker to work on the ground for us in Australia.

This person will spend the rest of this year training with me, in preparation to take over Australian on-the-ground operations in 2014.

The role will include customer service, sales overflow during busy periods, and consulting to clients using our marketing systems.

• Must be able to follow instructions: pretty self-explanatory, really.
• You need to be obsessed with customer service. We work damn hard for our clients, which is why they get some of the best results you’ll see anywhere in this industry.
• You need to have a backbone and a thick skin. We’re all about antagonistic marketing. If you’re all about being liked, you’ll find this whole experience way too uncomfortable.
• I’d love someone Gold Coast based – however, it’s not a necessity as long as you are willing to travel up here regularly over the next 12 months for training. It’s going to mean weeks away from home at a time, so that needs to be okay.
• Marketing background – isn’t actually necessary. What I’m looking for is the right person – skills can be trained. But you DO need to give a damn about marketing and business.
• Must be prepared to travel – for instance, we’ll be running Renegade Rockstar Roadshow in Las Vegas in July and we’ll need you to be there to experience it.
• Must be prepared to get on the phone and make sales. While this isn’t a sales role, there are going to be times you need to get on the phone and sell. Everyone in our company does it. And if you’re not willing to learn, this isn’t the right role for you.
• This is an EMPLOYEE position. It’s not suitable for someone who just wants to come and do it for 12 months and then go and start their own business. I’m looking for someone who is interested in taking this on long-term.

Salary: negotiable depending on the value you can add to the company.

Wow, it’s so interesting to look back at a post you wrote just over 2 years ago and see how far you’ve come.

It’s definitely been an intense couple of years – but I think I’ve definitely achieved what I set out for myself here. I’ve definitely found more balance in my life – spending more time with my family, getting my health under control, creating a life outside of my business, WHILE making more money and doing MORE in the business.

But I wanted to go back to this post because I think it contains a lot of things that some people probably haven’t heard about me. Sure, you know the Destroyer of Flamers on the Facebooks … but believe it or not, there’s actually a person behind the computer … below is the full explanation for this post, and above is the audio from the presentation. Original Post – January 2011

In 2009, I was invited to speak at an event – and I was specifically asked NOT to talk about business, but to discuss my own story.

What resulted was a fairly emotional few weeks of writing, refining and honing the most important parts of my life into a format that I believed would give people the best sense of who I was … this was when I started developing The Identity Principle as a way of sorting out the stuff I’d been through to get where I was.

When I got off stage, I swore I would never give that presentation again – it was far too hard. Too emotional an experience to suffer through on stage, in public.

I didn’t even know at the time that someone was filming the presentation for me – didn’t find out until months later. And when I rewatched it I decided immediately that I would never release it. There were too many real stories about real people – people I worried about hurting.

So, why am I releasing the audio from this presentation now?

2010 was a pretty tough year for a lot of us. I think we’ve all spent some time over the last few weeks reflecting on our lives, looking at ways to make 2011 better. I know that’s been my mission for the last 3 months – why we moved to the Gold Coast, why we’re really focusing on getting a bit of balance back …

My defining moment for 2010 was losing my Grandfather. I was standing at Melbourne airport, in the queue to board the plane to go to Perth where I had a number of events booked when my phone rang … my mother, letting me know my Grandfather had passed away. He’d been sick – it wasn’t completely unexpected.

Mum and I had discussed several times that her expectation was that when my Grandfather died, we’d all travel to Brisbane to be there. I stood in the line not sure what to do – I told her if she gave me the word, I was at the airport already – I’d simply go and get on a different plane … she told me to go, to fulfill my commitment … that, as a man with a work ethic, my Grandfather would have expected that of me.

So I did …

But it got me to thinking – and it wasn’t long after that Gulliver and I moved to the Gold Coast.

My goal for 2011 is for my business not to own me … and to spend more time working with the people and the content that is closest to my heart …

I am currently sitting in the Virgin Lounge in Melbourne, waiting for my flight back to the Gold Coast after 3 weeks in the US.

We’ve done quite a lot of travel over the last few years, particularly to the US, but this was HANDS DOWN my favourite trip. I fell completely in love with San Francisco. And the week we spent in La Jolla was just the raddest – being with Frank Kern and his other high level mastermind members was just a revelation.

But my biggest revelation of the 5 days of events we did there came from John Reese.

If you don’t know Reese, he’s kinda an internet marketing legend. He was the first person to break the $1Million in 24 hours product launch. Totally changed the way we all looked at what was possible in the space.

We were very lucky that he joined the small group mastermind and gave some really incredible insights.

But of course, the thing that most hit me was something I’ve heard a million times before – something that I tell other people. It’s the obvious that always gets you.

Reese was talking about how we hold ourselves back – how we have issues believing what we’re capable of. And of course what with the doing something no one had ever thought possible previously, this is an area he has some expertise in. And as we were all talking about this I thought … shit. You know I’ve set myself some really big goals for this year. But …

What if I’m not playing to my full potential?

So I made a decision. I went to my diary where I’ve recorded my 2013 goals. I chose 1 big goal in each area of my life – and I crossed out the bit where I’d given myself 12 months to complete these goals and rescheduled them for 90 days.

And INSTANTLY my to-do list changed – because achieving something in 90 days takes a whole different plan than doing the same things in 365 days.

But what surprised me was how PUMPED I felt – as an entrepreneur, it’s in my nature to enjoy a challenge. And by setting myself “realistic” goals in “realistic” time frames, I’d actually been de-motivating myself. And I’ve also been holding myself back – not pushing it to the line – not seeing how far I can really take it – not attempting to tap my potential.

The 90 Day Challenge

So, I want to set YOU the same challenge.

Pull out your list of goals for 2013. Choose just ONE – I don’t care if it’s business, health, family, whatever – and reset yourself to achieve that goal 90 days from now. Rewrite your to-do list for the next 90 days – what would it look like if you had to compress 12 months into 3? What would you have to do differently? How would you have to prioritise things?
